Click to expand.While Basil Makedon in 867 is definitely the most direct approach, being a vassal allowed me to within just a few years grab Sicily in the early game, and the county of Rome via claim as well- and most of all, not have to deal with an early on defensive pact as an aggressive Emperor always will. ![]()
